Mike you are right, I need to post aan update.😄

Here a Report after 12 flight ours.

After the record building time (started in 1986) we finished our KR2S listening 
to the name PH-TDB.  If you Google her callsign you wil find a few pretty Nice 
pics, but is not a excuses that I did not update my website. Mike you gave me a 
trigger to start thuis eventing with the update.!


Oke after a few years of building, the time was there to bring our beauty to an 
AirPort. After a few days off testing our bird was ready to go.

Our test pilot came in and we did a few checks and told him how everything 
works. (He was already one`s in our garage were we build our kr2). Did Some 
taxi tests and hè said hè knows enough. We arrange an other KR2 ( the PH-MIJ) 
for an trainigs flight for my test pilot.

When he came back he told me...time to go. 

Planning was the frist flight to go alone and than with me. Third flight with 
my dad.


Straped our pilot in the seatbelts , camara`s on fuel oké....ready to go.

After a long run (the plane sticked more to the runway than hè expected) than 
the PH-TDB choose to go....iT is  Airborn. Yessssss


When hè came back, hè had 2 issues. One, oil temp. 2 the plane wants to go nose 
down. Oil temp was in upper limits, so that was no problem. Nose down, quick 
solution was more weight to get the W&B more aft.


So After a check, I jumped in the plane togther with my test pilot. The aft 
stik force was almost gone so we had to install an temp trim tab.

My dad went also for a 20 min flight and had the day of his live.


The next day I found an oil leak, did an check and found iT was Form the front 
crankshaft bearing. It was my mistake because is made the Carter ventline to 
small, so the high inner pressure dammaged the FWD bearing seal. in 2 days the 
seal was replaced and we were ready to go again.

We started with a training for my self to learn the plane myself. We did Some 
stall test and calebitared the stall warning. My own made smart probe works 
(garmin said it would not work...)

After 3 hours and 15 touch and go`s  I went solo. Not realy relaxed but iT 
worked fine, I did 5 T&G`s so the rest of flying I have to learn my self.

I hired for one month an very expencive hangar to be on an AirPort with a long 
asphalt runway so I want to go because the month was almost finished. We have 
to fly from EHTE to EHMZ. The trip is about 110 Miles so I did it together with 
my test pilot.


This trip was good, feels great and getting a bit used to it that I have my own 
plane. The frist time that you gave yourself the time to look around....than 
you see your OWN Made wings...winglet.....that feelings is great!

In the New hangar I Made an elevator for the hole plane, it save me a lot of 
money. That works now great.


The high oil temp

After we are satteld in the new hangar we replaced a new oil cooler. A bigger 
one from 11 rows to 19 rows. IT is a lot of work if you have to do this at one 
houre drive from your house. 

The first flight with the new cooler was not bringing me wat I want. In cruise 
120 degr C solo. So that was pitty.

Bussy with closing gaps, making different airflow, spoilers below, bigger 
outflow ect ect  but I am still not setisfied. Solo it is now 113 degrC.  
Outside temp 16 at 2000ft

Next week I Will get a pressure instrument so I can measure in front off the 
cooler and direct behind. Than I know what to do. If I need a bigger or a 
second cooler or do I have a airlock... we Will see.


Strange vribration

Sometimes I had a intermitted vibration. We tought is can be the clutch from 
the prop because it is evrytime above 80% or the prop itselve. But last week I 
had at one`s  a continu vaibration. And a different in my EGT 100 c . I was 5 
min from the field so no stress.

I did a compleet inspection and changed oil, boogies. Found Nottingh strange. 
Tied the plane to my car and did a run up. After 2 min at 80% the EGT problem 
came agaiin in.  There was one bobine broken, installed a new one and the 
problem was solved. Happy that the BMW is having 2  spark plugs and bobines at 
each cilinder. The power is realy unbelevible.

Engine performance

The 110 HP BMW engine is great....IT runs smooth.

The take off is everytime an experiance.  IT flyes realy quick from the runway. 
Alone I have a rate off climb I think 2500 but fore dure 2000 ft a minute. With 
the prop blades at 18,5 degre.

With 2 pas I have seen 1800ft a minute.


The cruise performance I am not that happy because I think it cruising 120KTS. 
(Hoped 140KTS)But some other pilots told me that the engine Will produce 
probbably more power when the oil temp is lower so we Will see. Also need to 
change the extra trimtab...I think it procece a lot off drag.

I am not feelings at this moment that relaxed in the air that I do not higer 
speed than 135. But it is reley quick at 135kt if you gave Some more throllte.

Landing.

THe landing is with calm wind easy. Final 70, mid final 65, the threshold 
60....I think the 60 is to quick. Or my instrument gave to less speed than I am 
flying, My GPS camera gaves me 7 kts more everytime. I am also landing in grass 
so this gaves always a more speed feelings.

I called my test pilot to go for an lower thresshold speed but hè said not at 
this moment. So I wait till I have the engine temp at 100 degr. Than we can 
finish the test report.


Stabilo

I want to remove the (extra) trim tab and think about something to do with a 
spring, to get the waight from the elevator. I think this will solve the 
problem because my elevator is very biutiful but also very heavy.


At this moment concusion.

I am happy with the plane, Used to the stick forces and flying it relax. I am 
220 pound and together with Someone 200 pounds it flyes like a rocket.

If I fly solo I need after 30 sec a bit rudder right. 2 pax...a bit left. That 
is oké I think. Ailerons no input needed in flight. Stabilo I need to work on.

The engine is for me the cheapest wat to have a modern engine. Happy with it.

The prop Woodcomp 3 bladed in flight adjustible I have to less experiance with 
this. We will see in the future.


I cant wait to go for the first time alone to an other airfied...thats the next 
step.
