FYI, I have been following KR for years, bought a KR Super 2S project, and
attended 2015 gathering in Oregon. But now have sold the project and
completed a Zenith CH-650 and flown that from WA to OSH twice. (Have 4
builder/owners and they didn't want KR plus we got the wings for free from
EAA.) Have a Rotax 912 carb version in the Zenith. There's 4 owners but
only 2 pilots right now for the Zenith. (Have 2 shares for sale to pilots
if anyone is around Snohomish County, WA.)

Per avgas, I find it interesting that Rotax recommends mogas but the plane
will run on either or a mix. Rotax says if we run avgas change oil every 50
hrs. If we run mogas change oil every 100 hrs. We can see the difference
in how fast the oil goes black, but no difference in performance (maybe 2%
better on avgas). Obviously we can't go cross county and easily fill up on
mogas, so we generally change oil every 75 hrs, which is about twice a year.
We can run with alcohol, but choose not to and get mogas w/o from local
Co-op.

Interesting story - we have maintenance done by Aircore at KAWO - they
specialize in experimentals, Rotax, and Dynon (we have full Dynon system).
Customer came in who ran mogas w/alcohol and complained of fuel leak at
gascolator. They took the system apart and saw that gasket on bowl was
oversize. They thought wrong size gasket was installed. They got a new
gasket and when they returned they checked again and when comparing found
original gasket had shrunk back to spec size. Seems the alcohol caused
gasket to swell, but after 15 minutes on the bench it evaporated and
returned to normal size. This would make troubleshooting very difficult.
They swapped for a gasket of different material and all was OK. Moral or
the story is be careful as you'll never know what tiny part of your fuel
system will be affected by alcohol!
