Starting with a severely out of limit loading it becomes obvious immediately on takeoff as in Mark's case.  In the case of a Murphy Rebel I test flew with a bad forward loading it only became apparent in the landing flair when I ran out of nose up elevator. It was within the "design" CG range but turns out after some research it was not within the "recommended" CG range given by actual flight test.
