I started building my KR2-S in '95, Larry. I had most of the boat done as well as the wing spars but ceased building when they started discussing about the rear spar's incidence to let it fly less nose down. About that time I got a ride at OSK in a Kolb Mark III ultralight and was hooked so I decided to build a Challenger II. I'm sure I've had more fun with it in my particular flying environment than I would have had with the KR. I'm able to keep it at home with an 800' pasture strip and my own hanger instead of airport rent and trips out to it when wanting to fly. I'm wondering how much restoration you need to do. The "challengers101" website is full of helpful information about them if you're not familiar with the site. Also, we have a couple of gas stations here that offer 91 ethanol-free fuel and I've run Amsoil 100:1 synthetic oil for most of those years without any problems but to each their own as they say. One a slight fuel leak in the left wing tank of the KR and restoring a Challenger after hangar collapse. I'm rapidly expanding my knowledge base on two cycle engines. The 503 Rotax takes a 50 to 1 mix. That's 26 ounces to 1280 ounces of gas (10 gallon). At $2.77 per 8 ounce can of oil that adds an additional $.88 cents to every gallon of gas. Finding auto fuel with 5% or less alcohol will be a challenge. Rotax discourages 100LL but I hear many run it. Good Ol' KR with 0-200 Continental. I'll give it an additional hug next hangar visit.
