One of the locals that showed up late at the gathering is a professor at the local University. He offered to run the dimensions thru some program on his laptop to come up with an optimum, based on proportionality and aerodynamic properties of the group comprised of KR aircraft. He wanted some full-view photos (of several airplanes) to start; said it would only take a few minutes some evening. I recall that the KR2 tail was experimented with as the group moved to (finally) the KR2S, but my interest was more of how to optimize the empennage of a KR2 when running 100 HP Corvair or O-200. Would an aerodynamically balanced stabilizer be better than non-balanced on such a bird? Would a different size horizontal surface be better with more HP? Griff Pickett

I'm not totally clear on what Rob posted but I'm guessing he said the 2S plans increased the dimension of the horizontal from elevator to the horizontal lead edge to increase the area. That dimension on mine is 13 inches at the fuselage and 12 inches at the tip (approx). As for making a chart of everyone's tail dimensions I think it is sufficient to go with the advise and dimensions that Mark Langford and Jeff Scott built and / or modified to. Those two, along with Rob Schmitt, Mike Sylvester, Robert Pesak, Roger Baalman, and others with a 2S seem to be happy with their KR's.
