Dear sir... you have no idea how grateful I am of these photos, they are truly
historic and well appreciated. I will use them in our video.
Best regards

"Ken’s N1436 was in the FAA building at Oshkosh. I am not sure where they have
it now. The last time I was at Oshkosh it was not in the FAA  building. I would
be appropriate for them to display it this year."

Way back in 2007 I managed to orchestrate a long layover and the wife in
Chicago on a date which spookily coincided with that year's Oshkosh event.
Being the proud owner of KR1 plan set "#5393 - book 53," purchased from Mr Rand
back in the late eighties when I was still in school, I was determined to
locate this iconic little aeroplane.

The machine at that time was indeed in the FAA building - not that you'd notice
it.  It was way up on top of a building inside the hangar and tucked away in
the corner generally out of sight of the public. The wife and I had to scale a
barricade of detritus to get up on top of said building to take the attached
photos.

Please excuse the quality - it was dark and dingy, poorly lit and the wife was
using a thing called a camera to take the pictures which had stuff called film
in it.  I further prostrate myself for using so many bytes of your inbox to
present them to you, however I am incapable and unwilling to put anything in a
cloud other than my fat backside under IFR.

Following our return to the UK, I took the liberty of writing a thing called a
letter (on stuff called paper) to the Lord Mayor of Oshkosh humbly suggesting
that the little KR-1 was of historic significance in the world that he presides
over, and that a more prominent location might be more suitable in this
context.  In all fairness, His Lordship was decent enough to respond in kind
and as I recall the gist of his response was something like "... yeah, ok, I'll
think about it ...".

So maybe it has gone to a better location?

In any case, please enjoy your 50th anniversary celebrations.

Kiwi
