The FreeBird project is intended to solve many of these problems.  Not
only plans, but sources of readily available components such as canopy,
etc. That's why the Dragonfly canopy will be the canopy the FreeBird is
designed for, even though other canopies will likely fit as well. The
Dragonfly is the perfect shape and weighs about 30% less than the RR
KR2S canopy, for example (it's thicker).  My hope is that we can return
to the old paper KR Newsletter days, when independent entrepreneurs made
KR specific components and kept a few in stock for quick delivery.
Perhaps it evolves into your concept eventually, but we've already seen
what happens when a single consolidated source disappears.
