I paid $7+ a gallon (sold by liter) for car gas in Europe 20 years ago so
whenever gas prices rise over here I just think of what it costs over there and
am thankful I'm a U.S. citizen and can come home when money runs out.
EVERYthing over there is inordinately expensive (compared to the U.S.).  They
HAVE to have semi-socialist governments if their citizens are to survive.
As for Australia's $12/gal price and no semi-socialist government . . . plus
the fact they have the highest prevalence of things that can kill a person than
anywhere else I know of . . . I guess I'm glad I'm not over there as well.
Aussies have to be tough . . . or they die.
