Thanks for writing Mike.

Your experience is a sample size of 1. That makes it unreliable anecdotal
evidence instead of scientific evidence. Don't forget to read the linked
info I provided. Much of the science is coming not from some corn
association but reputable labs like Oakridge.

Again, intelligent corn farming is still using most of what they are
growing as cattle feed. I agree with you that stupid farming ought to
change. Currently, corn is sprayed with desiccants to dry it out before
harvest. It doesn't need to be. It ought not be dried out and used as
forage or silage.

Some will also argue that good arable land is wasted growing corn to feed
cattle. Humans eating beef is a very inefficient use of petroleum
fertilizers and fuels. I am not arguing against eating beef. I don't eat a
lot of it, but I enjoy it and eat it. I am arguing that ethanol is an
excellent fuel for engines that are built for it. Even engines that are
built for gasoline do well with mid level quantities of ethanol. That is
the science. Again read my links and tell me how they are fake, inaccurate,
etc.

There is a lot of stupid farming in the central valley of California. Huge
amounts of acreage converted to almond orchards. It takes a gallon or two
of water to produce one almond. Most of the almonds produced in California
are exported to Asia. Agriculture gets 80% of California's water and we are
committing that water to China in the form of almonds, rice, other nuts,
etc. Stupid.

If only I could be king I would straighten these unfortunate situations out

I have been informed not to get political on this list, but since you
started it 😜 ...

One of my favorite quotes is from Lord Acton. We have all heard the first
sentence of it. But the second sentence is even better: "Power tends to
corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always
bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority: still more
when you superadd the tendency or the certainty of corruption by
authority." Source:
https://history.hanover.edu/courses/excerpts/165acton.html

Lord Acton makes the point that power is corrupting. Nobody should be made
the king to straighten things out. We need better educated voters and a
robust democratic republic. We need people solving problems and either
selling or sharing those solutions.
