I knew Al (Alvin) Campbell well when I lived in San Antonio in the late 80’s.
He was from Arkansas and helped a fellow Arkie build my KR-2 which first flew
in 1991. He was buddies with Dan Diehl, and I watched them install the first
Diehl fixed gear on Al’s plane, a turbocharged VW. I then ordered the second
set of Diehl gear for my KR before it flew.
Unfortunately, Al died in his plane while giving a demonstration ride, sometime
around early 1992.
I have lost track of Calvin, his twin brother.
Al was a huge ambassador for the KR-2 and was always ready to give demo rides.
