I realized that my underlying issue is that it would be smart to move away from the keyboard as mean of control. When Krusader wants to stay in the game, there should at least be a possibility to (un)select files without using the keyboard. There will be more and more computers without keyboard. A column with plus and minus signs to my opinion would be an elegant option. Also because you could toggle it if you don't like it.
