I'm not sure right now about progress windows in other-then-plasma desktops, but there is a built-in progress bar inside Krusader. Please check out "Job toolbar". Settings -> Toolbars -> Show Job toolbar (to show/hide it) Settings -> Configure toolbars (to optionally configure visible items in toolbars)
