The latter -- the BFU steps would be annoying, but aren't a tragedy.

6793120 looks like a tragedy in the process of unfolding.

Meaning: you shouldn't need to wait for another build cycle to go by
before going forward with a fix (if that's what was blocking it).  The
flag day issue isn't so severe.
