Dear community members: I am the writer for the Solaris basic and advanced system administration guides that contain shell, user environment, and site initialization file information. For OpenSolaris 2010.02, I am tasked with updating existing content for bourne and C shells with newer shell information, in particular bash, ksh93, and possibly zsh, and tcsh.
Currently, I have no engineering contact to assist me with the updates, which would include a review of the content (approximately 20 pages) and guidance on replacing the older shell content with information for those shells that are newer and supported in OpenSolaris. I need some assistance from someone who is very familiar with these changes, so I can get the changes made in time for the next release. This is one of about 20 changes that are required for the books to bring them up-to-speed, so time is an issue for me. Here's the link to the book/sections that need to be updated: See the table, Shell Prompts in Command Examples http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-1985/vol1preface-11?a=view And here, the following information needs to be updated. http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-1985/userconcept-97366?a=view - Users work environments - Customizing a User's Work Environment - Tables 4-14, 4-15, 4/16 - Using Site Initialization Files - Table 4-17 - Shell Environment, table 4-18 and 4-19 - The PATH Variable - Examples 4-2, 4-3 and 4-4 This procedure also needs to be updated. http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-1985/usersetup-52714?a=view Please send email to me directly, since I am not yet on this discuss alias. Thank you in advance for any and all help with this project. Nita
