Hi! ----
The ksh93-integration project web page is now live at: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/ksh93-integration/ We have an overview of the project goals, pointers to the mailinglist (http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/ksh93-integration-discuss/), the original ksh93 documentation (http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/ksh93-integration/docs/ksh93r/) and the various source code repositories (http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/ksh93-integration/source/) on the page. There will be more material posted in the coming weeks. Our mailing list for all discussions is: ksh93-integration-discuss at opensolaris.org (please subscribe before posting, the mailman interface for that can be found at http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/ksh93-integration-discuss) Please join us and contribute to the discussion on the future of the Korn Shell in OpenSolaris. * What are we are doing ? The ksh93-integration project should investigate and execute the integration of the Korn Shell version 93 (ksh93) and related features, including: * Introduction of ksh93 (/usr/bin/nksh and /usr/bin/ksh93 were proposed until /usr/bin/ksh will be updated to ksh93) * Introduction of libshell.so (see below) * Investigate the migration of /usr/bin/ksh to the standard version of ksh93 * Investigate changes required for ksh93 to replace the standard POSIX shell /usr/xpg4/bin/sh. * Discussion/bugfixing of Solaris-specific ksh93 bugs+fixes * Enhancement of Solaris tools to use libshell instead of homegrown commandline parsers (like zfs, xauth etc.) * Ensure backwards compatibility (for example via keeping the old version of Solaris ksh around as /usr/bin/oksh) * Replacement of duplicate ksh versions in various Sun products with libshell.so (which is ksh93 as a shared library), including dbx and dtksh ---- Bye, Roland -- __ . . __ (o.\ \/ /.o) roland.mainz at nrubsig.org \__\/\/__/ MPEG specialist, C&&JAVA&&Sun&&Unix programmer /O /==\ O\ TEL +49 641 7950090 (;O/ \/ \O;)
