Sounds good (except that it lacks the SCTP stuff, but I guess it should
better be offloaded to something like "sctpstreamctl"...) ... I'll write
a proposal...

Only if the shell uses the streams directly - if something like stdio is
used to buffer input/output a resync is required (but then... calling
external applications would require such a resync anyway so this should
be no real problem).
