I checked on S9 systems and they are also fine. I don't have S8 systems handy and so couldn't check on that. And I don't recall seeing any significant changes on /usr/bin/wc quite some years now and all the changes at en_US.UTF-8 including the common method shared objects between S2.6 and now, I don't think I made any mistakes to incorrectly identify the bytes or characters for the corresponding Unicode versions.
