Yes, the stupid Java installer is really annoying. However, there is a workaround: - Download the package version of the SS12U2 tarball. - Find a box with the same architecture that you want to install SS12U2 on: The installer will complain if you try to unpack the x86 version on a Sparc system. - Make sure that nothing from SS12U2 is installed on that system: The installer will only unpack packages that aren't already(!) installed. - Unpack the tarball. - Run the installer with the "--extract-installation-data <directory>" option. It will then create package streams: -r--r----- 1 17071104 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-analyzer -r--r----- 1 42276864 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-backend -r--r----- 1 283699200 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-c++ -r--r----- 1 12107264 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-c++-libs -r--r----- 1 8790528 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-cc -r--r----- 1 19971072 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-dbx -r--r----- 1 155003392 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-dbxtool -r--r----- 1 44687360 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-dlight -r--r----- 1 2507776 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-dmake -r--r----- 1 10208256 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-f90-libs -r--r----- 1 42370048 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-fortran -r--r----- 1 3132416 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-legal -r--r----- 1 1435136 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-math-libs -r--r----- 1 158032896 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-netbeans -r--r----- 1 259836416 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-perflib -r--r----- 1 40289792 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-scalapack -r--r----- 1 282112 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-studio-bin-links -r--r----- 1 3162624 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-studio-common -r--r----- 1 8459264 Feb 13 01:09 SPRO-12u2-studio-ide - Install the packages in the following sequence: SPRO-12u2-legal SPRO-12u2-studio-common SPRO-12u2-math-libs SPRO-12u2-backend SPRO-12u2-cc SPRO-12u2-c++ SPRO-12u2-c++-libs SPRO-12u2-fortran SPRO-12u2-f90-libs SPRO-12u2-dbx SPRO-12u2-netbeans SPRO-12u2-studio-ide SPRO-12u2-dbxtool SPRO-12u2-dmake SPRO-12u2-dlight SPRO-12u2-analyzer SPRO-12u2-perflib SPRO-12u2-scalapack Hope this helps -- Volker -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Volker A.
