I want to consider if containerizing database is really a meaningful usecase in
dev environments. Typically in dev environments we often need to set up
workstation and a QA VM for testing. I am new to Kubernetes and with the
knowledge I have learnt so far I am thinking of a case where I can containerize
the app server and the database and handover a particular version to developers
and QA team so that they do functional testing/patching or anything. As this
will not be a performance environment I dont need to measure the system
performance factors other than worrying just about the functional point.
However I would like to get suggestions if this is a proved usecase already and
Kubernetes is good choice. Let me know the pros and cons if any with this. I
would really love and welcome taking recommendations to move further.
Appreciate your suggestions and help in advance.
