Ubuntu | libao

           Summary: libao default sound demon set incorrectly (esd vs. arts)
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: libao
        AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
         QAContact: [email protected]

I found that the default preference for the libao was set to esd (which isn't
enabled
by a stock install of Kubuntu 5.04). It's in the file /etc/libao.conf and
contains by
default:

default_driver=esd

I found it when I was encoding some .ogg audio files and wanted to play them
back
using the ogg123 command line player. It complained about the 'esd' driver not
being
available.

I changed the setting to:

default_driver=arts

and everything worked just fine.
