After all, it might not be a KTouch bug. I took Ktouch 1.4 from the kdeedu source package for Ubuntu Breezy (kdeedu_3.4.3.orig.tar.gz), where this problem doesn't show, and compiled it under Kubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake with KDE 3.5.2, and the problem is still there.
