I installed Breezy, then used Adept to install the 686 SMP kernel package. System hung upon reboot at the grey X screen before the KDM login window appeared. System was completely unresponsive - I could not switch to a text console, could not kill the X server, could not force reboot with ctrl-alt-del. Powered down. Rebooted with Dapper beta 2 CD. Installed. (two glitches with install - I'll file them separately) Used Adept to install 686 SMP kernel package, Reboot. (hung on shutdown, had to use hardware reset). On reboot w/686 kernel, system hung as X starting (blue screen this time) just before KDM window appears. System also totally unresponsive. Hard reset, selected 386 kernel in grub menu, system starts normally. -- Fail to boot smp kernel https://launchpad.net/bugs/24533 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
