A couple of versions later, the bug no longer happened, but korganizer wouldn't open, and kmail hanged waiting for it.
I had to kill the korganizer process (the window that didn't open), and kmail would be back. Or, if I kill kmail, korganizer would start ... !?!? at that point I gave up on kmail. btw, just tried it again now, and the same thing happen: when I accept an invitation, korganizer is started, but it never opens.
