This bug seems real. I got the same error message: Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 166 Major opcode: 144 Minor opcode: 3 Resource id: 0x0 Failed to open device
after a clean install of Kubuntu 6.06. In my case i got the message when trying to run Automatix, which was pretty much the first thing I did having installed Kubuntu. The bug seems to be associated with at least kphotoalbum, adept, and kaffine, not specifically with Automatix. This should be reopened and investigated.
