This problem may be limited to the kicker.mo file for the en_CA locale (and possibly others).
I had the same problem on two recently-upgraded Gutsy systems. In response to the above thread I uncompiled the kicker.mo file using msgunfmt. As I also had the en_GB locale installed, I examined the kicker.mo file for that locale. It appears that the kicker.mo file for the local en_CA, in the currently shipping Gutsy, needs some examination. In addition to its "_: Entries in K-menu" problem, I also note errors in some other fields.
