No problem ;) Yes, the fact that you're using a single folder would
explain a lot. The expire function will work *if I refresh the folder
first* by clicking on the folder and letting it load all the headers.
But if I just do an expire all folders from the menu, then it fails. So
I guess maybe the best way to state this is that expire fails for
folders that haven't been refreshed, even though kmail shows the proper
number of mail entries.

Maybe it doesn't know what the dates are for each mail until the headers
are refreshed, but only the total number of mails in a folder? My mail
gets sorted into folders by rules running on the server, so the client
doesn't ever seen a specific email until i enter the folder it resides
in and click on it.
