This particular adapter worked with fresh install of Kubuntu Hardy x86_64
Now using kernel 2.6.24-18.

This error occurs on both my 64bit Kubuntu laptop and 64bit Kubuntu
desktop
Only packages installed in addition to included packages are libqt4 dev
packages and KDevelop suite.
