I'm using Kubuntu 8.04 LTS Stable amd64. In this OS, I found that I can
not use easy Samba sharing. This is my summary:
Action:
As root:
- Go to K Menu > System Settings > Sharing > File Sharing
- Choose "Advanced sharing" and check "Use Samba"
- Commit (Save configuration)
As user:
- Go to his home directory
- Choose folder to share
- On right click, choose share
- Check "Share this folder in the local network"
- Check "Share with Samba"
- Check "Public" and "Writable" on "Samba Options"
- Click OK
Expected:
- The folder is shared and writable
- /etc/samba/smb.conf is changed
Fact:
- The folder is still not shared
- /etc/samba/smb.conf remains unchanged
->> lsb_release -rd
