I have a Zepto znote 3215w laptop. A clean install of Kubuntu Hardy Heron 8.4
(with the old KDE3).
Sound was working fine, system sounds playing and mp3 playing in Amarok.
Even Avi videos playing in Kaffeine (0.8.6). You can not imagine how happy I
was to hear the sound working finally on my laptop (it did not work under
previous versions of Kubuntu).
But then I tried to play an DivX video in Kaffeine. No error message, the movie
plays without sound. Kaffeine displays the mute sound icon. And you can not
un-mute it. And after this happened, no more sounds are played. Not the Kubuntu
system sounds, not the mp3:s that played before.
Amarok starts playing the musik but you can not hear anything anymore. The
sound is not muted according the neighter the sound mixer nor Amarok.
