You have been subscribed to a public bug:

to reproduce:

system>settings>internet and network>network settings

The network settings button will be blured in the internet and network folder,
when you enter the network settings configuration window, you will be asked to
log into administrator mode. The root password will be asked for and provided
and a small window with the title "detecting platform configuration" will
appear. The network settings configuration window wil remain exactly the same,
without giving me the ability to make any changes. The window is also so big
that I have to minimize the toolbar on the bottom to click "administrator mode".

** Affects: kdeadmin (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Medium
         Status: Confirmed
