AFAIK Kooka is the only GUI OCR software shipping with Ubuntu. With
Ubuntu 8.10, it seems to have gone: When you type "Kooka" into
Synaptics' search field, you get no results. Same when you try to search
in the built-in applications catalogue (Anwendungen ->
Hinzufügen/Entfernen).
