I've noticed a few changes with KDE 4.2.95 and/or
xserver-xorg-video-radeon1:6.12.99+git20090629.f39cafc5-0ubuntu1 and/or
linux-image-2.6.31-2-generic:
1. there is a normal-looking drop-shadow regardless of whether I enable shadows
or not
2. the drop-shadows are blue no matter what color I choose
3. if I enable shadows, the menus and some dialog windows acquire the glitchy
shadow previously described

I'm really not sure if this is because of the KDE upgrade or driver
upgrade or kernel upgrade or something else, since all the updates were
installed at the same time. I do recall that Linux 2.6.31-1 caused
borked compositing.
