Well, the indicator widget should be added via the default settings (one thing more using up space in my panel :-( )
After the latest updates to kopete and kde-pim packages (including the indicator libs), I understand now why the system tray icon is generally not needed any more. Even if there are no messages to indicate, the indicator widget shows e.g. kmail or kopete if it's running. And selecting this entry brings the application into focus. So basically, the system tray icon is not necessary to bring the main application window into focus. But it does not work as intended at the moment (that's why I linked the indicator widget to this report). When the application (I tested it with kopete and kmail) is not only minimized to the panel but minimized to the system tray (so that there is no entry in the task manager), then the indicator widget is not able to bring the application into focus. ** Summary changed: - kopete window disappears + indicator widget cannot show applications which are minimized to system tray ** Changed in: kopete (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: plasma-widget-indicatordisplay (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Also affects: kdepim (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: kdepim (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- indicator widget cannot show applications which are minimized to system tray https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/419470 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdepim in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
