You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am using kubuntu 11.10.
I have my software sources dialog configured to only inform me of long term
support releases.
I receive(d) no notifications about the availability of kubuntu 12.04, which I
believe is a LTS release.
If I change the setting to notify me of 'Normal Releases', then I get regular
system tray notifications about 12.04
When I change back to 'Long term support releases only', I get no such
notifications.

I'm not sure how many people would have the setup to reproduce this.
It's not that I don't know 12.04 is out there, but I should have been
notified sooner, and perhaps there are people out there using 11.10 (or
any earlier version affected by this bug, which would have gone
unnoticed until now) who don't know.

Anyone know the source of this problem?

Rob
