I have this too.

In MTP mode, KDE can see the "external" storage on the phone. But in PTP mode 
it's just an empty directory. The URI in Dolphin is camera:// , and shows 
nothing.
It's the same whether you connect the phone as a camera, or as a media device - 
in the latter case you get two different sub-devices (although you can't 
distinguish them in the device notifier, there's two entries both saying "open 
with file manager"). The entry which is the camera shows no files.

This has been the same with the phone running both AOS 4.3 & 4.4.

You can work round by navigating the MTP device to the DCIM folder, but
camera-specific functions in apps like Gwenview don't work.
