I had the same problem. ( KCachegrind Version 0.7.4kde Using KDE Development Platform 4.13.3) I have workaround this problem by deleting:
~/.kde/share/config/kcachegrindrc I am attaching both old broken file and new (autogenerated) ** Attachment added: "Zip file with working and broken kcachegrindrc.
