It wasn't clear.
I was suggesting it could be built-in (as suggested x-trash), like having a 
checkbox "[x] also hide application/x-trash files when hiding files".

A built-in mime-type has the advantage of being easier to implement and less 
complexity exposed to the user.
Since the mimetype extension association is editable by users, power users will 
be able to leverage it, although less easily than if it was in the config UI 
directly.
