Public bug reported:
I am trying to add a new network printer to my system and am unable to
do so.
The printer is a Brother MFC-L3780CDW. I already have 2 other printers
configured.
I go to the Printers interface in system settings. It discovers the printer
and offers 2 versions. The first says:
Brother MFC-L3780CDW series (Brother MFC-L3780CDW series)
The second is:
Brother MFC-L3780CDW series (driverless) (Brother MFC-L3780CDW series)
As far as I can tell, the first one is the one to use. The second
requires entering an address.
I choose the first one and hit Next.
It offers a number of Recommended Drivers choices:

I select the first one and hit Next.
The next screen is Please describe your printer. I accept the defaults
and hit Finish.
The Add Printer dialog goes away, and nothing happens.
I've confirmed that nothing gets changed in /etc/cups/printers.conf.
In the logs, I see the following:
