Public bug reported:

Package: dolphin
Ubuntu release: 24.04 LTS Noble
Installed affected version: 4:23.08.5-0ubuntu4

Impact:

Dolphin can retain stale item-view font/style metrics after changing zoom or
view font settings. On high-DPI systems using 200% scaling, this can leave item
text oversized and overlapping in Details view after zooming in and back out,
making file lists difficult to use.

Upstream fix:

The issue is fixed upstream by KDE commit
8010ae0286fb30d51fff150703096f7ebe6172a9, associated with KDE Bug 511604:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=511604

Test case:

1. On Ubuntu Noble with Dolphin 4:23.08.5-0ubuntu4, use KDE Plasma with 200%
   scaling.
2. Open Dolphin in Details view.
3. Zoom in and then zoom back out.
4. Observe that item text can remain oversized and overlap rows.
5. Install a Dolphin package with the upstream patch backported.
6. Repeat the zoom in/out sequence.
7. Item text should return to the expected size and no longer overlap.

Regression potential:

Low. The patch only updates DolphinItemListView::updateFont() to keep
KItemListStyleOption.font and fontMetrics synchronized for both system-font and
custom-font modes. The affected behavior is limited to item-view font handling.

Verification performed:

Built and installed a local Noble package based on 4:23.08.5-0ubuntu4 with the
upstream patch applied. Confirmed the reported zoom/font issue no longer
reproduces in Dolphin Details view.
