That's good to hear. (Great, even) And while I appreciate that it is not a PA 
bug and that its removal is not a permanent solution, I just don't think my 
parents would appreciate my little sister being able to hear flame-engulfed 
headcrab zombies screaming in pain in the meanwhile. ;-)

(I must also note that I've not been very happy with the soundcard on Windows 
either. The volume has to be set pathetically low (4-7%) for it to not blow my 
eardrums out....)
