Last week I reported bug #1297936 [1] where after the upgrade from 12.04 to 14.04 lightdm doesn't start due to a stale lightdm configuration file. For those who have such a stale config file the upgrade will be a bad experience. The user may not even know that the upgrade replaces kdm by lightdm and therefore search in the wrong direction.
Maybe someone can have a look at the bug to decide if it is important enough to fix it or at least put a hint in the release notes.
