Hi Valerie: I don't think you want to keep going if it's already installed and you logged into Gnome. There are just too many dependencies and services that conflict with KDE that are enabled on package installation. That's not a dig at Gnome - the problem goes both ways - but I've never had a good experience while trying to use Gnome desktop and then switch over to KDE. Besides the services, there are the config files in your home directory which can conflict. And nobody is getting paid to ensure you can switch smoothly between the two.
I suggest you instead reinstall so that you can ensure you have KDE dependencies out of the box. You might need a completely different ISO for that Good luck!
