    JAKARTA, April 19 (AFP) - A blast rocked Jakarta's main Istiqlal 
mosque on Monday but it was not immediately clear whether there were 

any casualties, an official said>
    A man who answered the phone at Istiqlal aid there was "some 
kind of an explosion" on the ground floor but refused to elaborate.
    "We were all praying on the second floor and we came downstairs 
there were pieces of shattered glass everywhere ... It was some kind 
of explosion," said the man, who refused to give his name.
    Moslems were holding their mid-afternoon prayers at about 3:00 
p.m. (0800 GMT) when the blast occured.
    The explosion was in an office on the ground floor, in front of 
the offices of the Indonesian Council of Ulemas, the highest 
authority on Islamic affairs in the country.
    The state Antara news agency said it was not clear if there were 
any casualties.
    It quoted a security guard at the complex as saying he saw two 

men rush out and leave on a motorcycle shortly before the blast.
    The local sub-district police could not be immediately reached 
for confirmation.
