Strange.  Does this reproduce with stock qemu-0.9.0?

I have a couple of XP VMs with non-default resolutions, and they don't 
exhibit this.

I've seen this with SDL-over-VNC.  What's your setup?  Distro, window 
manager, etc.?  Not that I know how to diagnose this, but maybe it will 
ring a bell for someone.
