Summary: Guest OS seems to enter an infinite loop.

Initial Comment:
Good morning.

KVM is very unreliable on my computer.
I have failed to install anything on it yet.

Everything is fine for a while, but then the guest stops, usually during
hardware detection or sometimes without an apparent reason.

If I use "info registers" I see that the values in the registers loop over a
few values, so I believe the guest is entering an infinite loop, or at least a
very long one.

I have tried the following guests:
 Arch Linux 0.8
 Debian Linux 4.0
 FreeBSD 6.1

All of those are 32 bit.

There is no problem with -no-kvm specified.

My host distribution is Gentoo.
Kernel 2.6.21-gentoo
Other than -fomit-frame-pointer my system was compiled normally.

I have tried the following versions of KVM:
 17 built-in
 17 module
 20 module
 21 module

KVM was always compiled without any tweaking, just as i t came out of the
archive. I used gcc 3.4.6

None of the versions survive more than three minutes of installing.

My host CPU is an Intel Core Duo (32bit). I can provide the contents of
/proc/cpuinfo if that is desired.

Please don't give this report a big priority, I am quite new to Linux, and
while I feel pretty confident of my skill with it, I am far from being a master.

Thank you for your time and for KVM.

Karol Swietlicki
