well, I think it is very unlikely that the vgabios is located at /usr/share/kvm or so. if you are unsure do a "locate vgabios.bin". I've installed kvm in /usr/local/kvm/ and the vgabios.bin and vgabios-cirrus.bin files are located at /usr/local/kvm/share/qemu/. to try out your new bios files just delete the old ones and try to start the VM (if it works you've obviously deleted the wrong files ;-)) then copy your new files and test them.
