I usually save the mails as .eml files and git-am them.

Whenever you see patches, they are usually supposed to apply to the "current git" of the time they were posted at. This applies to my patches too.
Please keep in mind, that you'd need to fiddle with the userspace parts too, so the svm cpuid bit is actually exposed.
