Summary: RHES4 32bit with kernel 2.6.9-78.0.1 doesn't boot up

Initial Comment:
I upgrade from kvm .72 to kvm .78 and now the Redhat ES 4 32bit machine cannot
boot up.

Host kernel is

# uname -a
Linux compiler 2.6.26-1-amd64 #1 SMP Thu Oct 9 14:16:53 UTC 2008 x86_64
GNU/Linux

Guest kernel is 2.6.9-78.0.1.EL, but the same happens either with 2.6.9-67.

Without special boot parameters, boot process stops with:

CPU: AMD 02/03 stepping 03
Enabling fast FPU save and restore... done.
Checking 'hlt' instruction... OK.
ENABLING IO-APIC IRQs
..TIMER: vector=0x31 pin1=0 pin2=-1

With noapic and acpi=off hangs with latest kernel messages, but no kernel oops
or something weird:

CPU: AMD 02/03 stepping 03
Enabling fast FPU save and restore... done.
Checking 'hlt' instruction... OK.

Message:
Do you have any suspicious messages in host dmesg?
