Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to make a
difference. Here's how I invoked it:
sudo vdeq kvm -net nic,vlan=1,macaddr=52:54:a0:14:01:01 \
-name "Lenny BCU Server" \
-serial file:kvm.log \
-net vde,vlan=1,sock=/var/run/vde2/tap0.ctl \
-boot c \
-vnc :6 -usbdevice tablet \
-hda /dev/turtle/Lenny06BCU \
-soundhw es1370 -m 1G -smp 2
kvm 72+dfsg-5~lenny2 on a 2.6.26 kernel.
