doing some post-install adjustment on a concrete system. Better safe
than sorry, specifically as kvm-kmod may contain the latest bleeding edge.

Sure, but I think distros should be more conservative than upstream. If we're uncomfortable making it 666, then certainly a distro shouldn't do that on it's own.
